Raised Embroidery and Stumpwork at Morley College
Sat 20th - Sun 21st November @10-4pm each day
This workshop is at Morley College, Waterloo Center.
Join Pollock's Toy Museum curator, Debby Brown, at Morley College and explore 3 dimensional Stumpwork stitchery, to create exciting off-the-surface wired, padded and embellished embroideries. Be inspired by historical and contemporary examples to stitch your own richly decorated piece. Choose a seasonal nature themed embroidery, or make a small shaped piece to create a unique textile brooch, or Christmas tree decoration. Add sparkle and lustre with specialist metallic goldwork wires.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Learn how to raise the basic embroidery stitches to create 3D effects.
Discover how to create separate wired and padded embroidery shapes and ‘slips’.
Discover how to apply special goldwork wires, sequins, beads and other embellishments.
Mount and finish techniques. Instruction sheets and suppliers list provided.
For 19 years and above. £100 or £75 concession.
This event is hosted by Morley College and led by our curator. Please contact Morley College for any enquiries.
