Dynamic Toys: Creative CPD Workshop for Teachers

Pollock’s Toy Museum invites teachers to join us for a continuing professional development workshop focusing on toys that move, in association with our 2025 autumn/winter exhibition:

WHIZZ, JUMP, SPIN, HOOT, RUN, FLUTTER AND FLY

Artist Tony Hayward is bringing an opportunity for teachers to share in the delight of creating imaginative moving toys using simple physical principles.

In this half-day workshop Tony will demonstrate a selection of dynamic toys from his extensive collection and researches in India, together with global and historical examples from the Pollock’s Toy Museum collection. This will be followed by a creative, practical workshop making one or two toys using basic materials and physical principles such as linked motion, gravity and stored energy.

Suitable for primary, secondary and college teachers, with broad applications across the curriculum.

Workshop details

When: Wednesday 24 September 2025 from 1.00 pm – 4.30pm

Where: At Pollock’s Toy Museum Croydon, Unit 49 Whitgift Centre, Croydon, CRO 1UQ

A light lunch will be provided before the main activities, at 12 noon.
